INGREDIENTS

  • 300 g pork cracklings
  • 150 g peeled apple
  • 130 g peeled onion
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 3 tablespoons of lard
  • 1 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • pinch of pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt

INSTRUCTIONS

    Finely chop the onion. Peel and crush the garlic. Cut the apple into 3 mm cubes. Finely grind the pork cracklings in a meat grinder and place them in a bowl.

    In a pan over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of lard, add the onion and let it become translucent. Remove the pan from the heat, add the apple, garlic, and marjoram, and mix. Add to the bowl with the ground cracklings. Add the remaining lard, salt, and a pinch of freshly ground pepper, and mix everything thoroughly. Let it rest in the refrigerator or a cool place for at least 2 hours.

    Serve the spread with a baguette or plain bread. You can sprinkle the bread with the spread with finely chopped onion, spring onion, or chives. You can mix hot paprika into the spread according to your taste. Bread with pork crackling spread is best enjoyed with beer.
