INGREDIENTS
- 0.5 cup rice (preferably leftover rice)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon sugar (to taste)
- Pinch of salt
- 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 0.5 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- Fresh fruit to taste
- Honey for sweetening
INSTRUCTIONS
- 1Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear.
- 2In a pot, bring 1 cup of water to a boil, add the rinsed rice and a pinch of salt. Reduce the heat to minimum and let the rice simmer slowly until it absorbs all the water, about 15 minutes.
- 3Add 1 cup of milk to the cooked rice and stir. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat. Cook over low heat until the porridge thickens and the rice is soft (approx. 10-15 minutes). Stir frequently to prevent the porridge from sticking. Add sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Mix well.
