Reuben sandwich

INGREDIENTS FOR SANDWICH

  • 4 slices of rye bread
  • 50 g butter
  • 4 slices of Swiss-type cheese
  • 200 g sauerkraut
  • 200 g beef ham

INGREDIENTS FOR RUSSIAN DRESSING

  • 100 g mayonnaise
  • 1.5 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon grated horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Pinch of ground paprika
  • Salt
  • Pepper

RUSSIAN DRESSING INSTRUCTIONS

    Mix all ingredients together and whisk thoroughly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

SANDWICH ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

    Butter one side of each slice of bread. Turn one slice over and spread the unbuttered side with the prepared dressing. Place cheese slices (2 slices per slice of bread), 100 g ham, 100 g sauerkraut on the dressing and pour over the remaining dressing. Cover with the second slice of bread, unbuttered side down. Repeat the same procedure for the second sandwich.

    Toast the sandwiches on both sides in a pan (or grill) until golden brown and the cheese is sufficiently melted.
