BIFTEKI
- 300 g fatty minced beef
- 120 g feta cheese
- 50 g peeled red onion
- 2 mint leaves
- 1 egg
- 1 slice of crustless toast bread
- 5 flat-leaf parsley leaves
- grated zest of ¼ lemon
- 1 full teaspoon of oregano leaves
- freshly ground pepper
- salt
WINE PAIRING
- This dish is best complemented by a fresh, light wine. You can choose from sparkling, white, rosé, or red wines.
Bifteki Preparation
- 1Cut the cheese into 6 sticks, 5 cm long.
- 2Finely chop the onion. Finely chop the mint, parsley, and oregano. Place the toast bread in a bowl and pour 50 ml of water over it. Add the herbs, onion, a pinch of pepper, 1 teaspoon of salt, lemon zest, egg, and minced meat, then mix thoroughly.
- 3Divide the mixture into 6 portions. From each portion, form an oval patty, place a cheese stick in the middle, and wrap the meat around it to form an oval roll.
- 4Place on a medium-hot grill and grill for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
Tip
You can substitute beef with lamb. Remember that the more fatty parts you leave on the lamb, the more pronounced its flavor will be.
Serve with tzatziki, cherry tomatoes, and finely sliced red onion wedges.
