INGREDIENTS
- 1 medium English cucumber (approx. 250 g)
- 10 g fresh mint (optional)
- 10 g fresh dill
- 1 clove of garlic
- 150 g plain yogurt (3.5 % fat)
- Juice from ½ a small lemon
- Salt
INSTRUCTIONS
- 1Finely grate the cucumber* into a small bowl, salt it, and let it stand for 8–10 minutes until the salt releases excess water.
- 2Meanwhile, finely chop the mint and dill, then peel and press the garlic. Place the chopped mint, dill, and pressed garlic into a medium-sized bowl.
- 3After the specified time, squeeze the grated cucumber and add it to the bowl with the mint, dill, and garlic. Then add the yogurt to the bowl and mix everything. Add salt and lemon juice to the mixture to taste and mix again.
- 4Serve the finished tzatziki immediately.
- 5* You don't necessarily have to grate the cucumber. You can simply cut it into small cubes (approx. 0.5 cm × 0.5 cm), salt it, let it release water, and then use it in the same way as described in the instructions.
