INGREDIENTS
- 80 - 100 g whole oat flakes (i.e., not fine or crushed)
- 240 - 300 ml milk
- 2 medium-sized apples
- about 1 lemon
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 cups thick creamy yogurt
- a few nuts or almonds
- a few raisins
Instructions
- 1The evening before, mix the oats with three times their weight in milk and refrigerate overnight. By morning, the oats will have swollen, become wonderfully soft, and most importantly, absorbed almost all the liquid.
- 2Quarter the apples, core them, and grate them coarsely with the skin on. Immediately drizzle with lemon juice and mix to prevent the fruit from browning. Sweeten with honey; the amount depends on the natural sweetness of the apple.
- 3To the flavored apple, mix in the swollen oats along with the remaining milk and yogurt. Divide into bowls. Coarsely chop the nuts, and sprinkle them along with the raisins over the finished muesli. Serve immediately.
Tip
Feel free to substitute regular yogurt with Greek yogurt (i.e., fattier) or even whipped cream: depending on how indulgent you feel today. You can also skip soaking in milk; it works with apple or orange juice too.
