Preheat the oven to 180°C with top and bottom heat.

Whisk the butter for 3 minutes or until it turns pale. Add sugar and salt and whisk briefly again. Beat each egg into the batter separately. Add poppy seeds, oat flour, baking powder, milk, and finely grated apple. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.

Line a 21 x 21 cm baking pan with parchment paper and pour in the batter. Smooth it out and bake for 25 - 30 minutes in the middle of the oven. Check for doneness with a skewer; once it comes out clean, the poppy seed cake is baked.
