INGREDIENTS

  • 4 burger buns
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 4 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar (optional)
  • 1/2 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt
  • Pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

    Heat oil in a large pan and brown all the meat over medium heat.

    Dice the onion and bell pepper into approximately 1 cm cubes and add both to the pan with the browned meat. Add minced garlic and sauté together for about 3 minutes, until the vegetables soften.

    Add ketchup, sugar, chili powder, mustard, and pour in 100 ml of water. Stir and let simmer covered for approximately 15 minutes.

    After 15 minutes, add tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce. Taste and season with salt and pepper if needed.

    Slice the buns in half and toast the cut sides in a pan, either dry or with a little butter or oil. Fill the buns with the prepared meat mixture. If desired, you can spread grated or sliced cheddar over the hot meat mixture. Enjoy.
